Nye County School District Partners with Fuel Education to Provide Students
More Options with the Anywhere Learning System
Herndon, Virginia, April 19, 2016 – Nye County School District in Nevada has partnered with Fuel Education™ (FuelEd™) to provide its students more flexible, personalized learning options. Beginning this month, Nye County School District is implementing FuelEd’s Anywhere Learning System, a digital learning courseware for students in grades 1-12 that can be used in a variety of learning models across the district to meet the needs of more of its students.
Beginning with its Distance Ed program, Nye County School District will provide students a blended learning program that combines the Anywhere Learning System with instruction by highly qualified teachers in the district. The program will be managed by teachers in a classroom setting, and students will have the ability to work on lessons at any time, from anywhere there is an internet connection. The Anywhere Learning System is approved by the Nevada Department of Education for grades K-12. With more than 160 courses, 5,600 lessons, 200,000 content pages, and 130,000 test items that are aligned to state and national standards, Anywhere Learning System will provide Nye County School District students more options to explore subjects to prepare them for college and careers. Anywhere Learning System, which is currently in use in 10 other Nevada school districts, starts with pre-tests, or assessments, that provide customized learning paths based on those results for struggling students who need remediation, as well as for advanced learners who need accelerated coursework. Content is presented to students using sequenced directinstruction aids such as study guides, quizzes, mastery tests, and essays. Its built-in assessment and reporting tools help track and analyze all aspects of individual and class performance in order to benchmark progress and refine curriculum plans.
FuelEd partner Backbone Communications will provide professional development support to Nye County School District to train their teachers, as well as provide additional customization for their schools and classrooms. “Not all students learn best in a traditional school environment. Using 21st Century digital curriculum in combination with our teachers, we believe we can meet more of our students needs and at the same time provide them expanded access to curriculum that will better prepare them for college and careers,” said Dale
A. Norton, Superintendent of Nye County School District. “Associate Superintendent Evangeline Visser, Principal Karen Hills, and I are very pleased to partner with Fuel Education and Backbone Communications to implement this new blended learning program to help boost student achievement.”
